Abstract

This article intends to collect the pertinent information of the last eleven years, making a recount of research and experiences of application of art therapy in socio-emotional problems, in clinical, educational and social fields. 12 articles found in four journals have been reviewed. These articles belong mostly to Spain and the journals are specialized in the chosen subject, not being found in Psychology journals that address more diverse topics. According to what was found in the art therapy intervention, it can be said that there is a boom in research related to social issues, such as violence prevention, educational inclusion, migration and social reintegration. There are also clinical themes such as drug addictions. It is observed that the methodologies are mostly qualitative and the premise that art is a powerful self-expressive tool that promotes personal development and social cohesion is reinforced.
