Family functioning and emotional intelligence in high school students in Lurín

The present study aims to determine the relationship between the dimensions of family functioning and emotional intelligence. We worked with a sample made up of 309 men and women, 1st and 2nd grade high school students from Lurín district located south of Lima. The level, type and design used were descriptive, basic and correlational. A relationship was found between emotional intelligence and the dimension of over-involvement (.123 *), rigidity (.161 **) and family satisfaction (.113 *) of family functioning, concluding that the higher the emotional intelligence, the higher the level of over-involvement.
