Abstract

This article reviews some theoretical aspects about family functioning, being one of them related to family goals, functions and tasks. Like this, we can observe that a family has multiple functions that are accomplished through tasks. The success in these tasks will determine the family functionality and the full development of its members, with personal autonomy, adequate socialization, responsibility and sense of life.
Also, it is tackled the subject of crisis management, pointing out four crisis categories that the family must face: unexpected events, development crisis, structural crisis and care crisis.
In the subject of fraternal relations different types of bonds between brothers can be observed, and from these relations-among others- they will learn to find their individuality and the one from the other.
The last aspect refers to family relations. Here, three important dimensions are studied in depth: family affection, family authority and family communication, finally exposing the five communication axioms.
