Abstract

The article aims at reviewing the psychologist’s work in the field of nephrological medicine. The information
given is based on references, researches and interviews to important people who were pioneers of this specialty
in Peru. It characterizes psychological work and kidney patients’ attention within a historical context by highlighting
its work in the clinical and health field. When reviewing the evolution of the presence of the professional
psychologists in the area of kidney health, the author shows a psychological specialized work in this area
of internal medicine and promotes a careful outlook into this specialty’s profile named Psychonephrology.
