Abstract

The present study aimed at a) identifying which factor of Affective Intensity Scale prevails in the family caregiver
of patients with Alzheimer in the cities of Lima and Huánuco, b) analyzing the role of socio-cultural factors and
their influence on the family caregiver’s emotional experience. This study was descriptive-correlational and the
Affective Intensity Scale Larsen (AIM) was used to assess the extent to which emotion has been experienced. By
multivariate analysis, it appears that there are significant differences in affective intensity, mainly positive
affectivity and negative reactivity factors at a high level, and the serenity factor at a low level. Gender and the
hours of care affect the intensity of affection; kinship, age, marital status and education level did not affect
emotional intensity.
