Value of forgiveness

The present article presents the theoretical psychological contributes offered on forgiveness and emphasize the importance of this variable in the personal welfare. Likewise, it shows the results of an investigation with the aim of know the forgiveness presence in patients diagnosed with cancer, who presents remission of the disease and that were treated at the “Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas”. In order to measure it was used the variable worked Heartland Forgiveness Scale (HFS) developed by Yamhure Thompsony Snyder (2002). The results show a significant presence of forgiveness in the lives of these people in the measured dimensions, such as self-forgiveness, forgiveness towards others and forgiveness towards situations. The results showed contribute to think of the need to include this psychological variable for the achievement of integral welfare, in programs of psychological intervention, as the importance of continuing studies that promote the knowledge of it.
