Evaluating personality disorders in childhood

Abstract

The purpose of this article was to investigate psychometric qualities for a standardized test to assess personality disorders in childhood and adolescence, so that in this way, can be considered as comprising a solid tool reliability and validity. However, there are other sources of evaluation, considered by specialists who meet the criteria for a diagnosis of personality disorder. Therefore, for the diagnosis and treatment of said disorder is recommended to take into account of a multisource and multimethod approach including: interviews with the child or young person and parents / carers, self management, collateral information collection and review of records.
It is concluded that the diagnosis of personality disorder in children and adolescents is novel and feasible. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that a high percentage of searches on adolescent personality problems, so it is recommended further studies in children.
