School of journalism: a warranty to strenghten the journalist profession and the development of a citizenship culture

Abstract

The idea is to form berter journalists, in order to make them collaborate in preparing better citizens, able to build more developed and fair societies. In this work we want to promote proposals leading to revalue the role of the Peruvian journalist. An urgent and vitally committing task, since the warranty of freedom of expression as well as the citizen's rights to receive opportune information depends on this measure.

Maria Luisa Portugal de Rodrich, Universidad de Navarra

Doctora en Comunicación Pública por la Universidad de Navarra (España). Licenciada en Ciencias de la Información por la Universidad de Piura. Bachiller en Artes Liberales con mención en Periodismo. Coordinadora de la Subarea de Comunicación Internacional y Profesora Principal de la Facultad de Comunicación de la Universidad de Piura. Dirigió el Proyecto: "Programa de capacitación periodística para la consolidación de una cultura de paz en la zona de frontera, Perú-Ecuador 2001-2003".
