Problems and strategies in comics translation in articles published between 2017- 2023

Comics translation industry is experiencing a continuous growth; therefore, an increasing number of specialized comics translators are in demand. This type of translation presents specific problems, making it essential to know how to deal with them by means of different strategies. The general objective of this work is to analyse the most common comics translation problems and strategies in articles published between 2017-2023. A qualitative approach was used in this research with a literature review method. The sample consisted of 32 articles, 12 in Spanish, 8 in Portuguese, 7 in English, and 5 in French. Content analysis was used as the data collection technique. It was concluded that from the sample of 32 articles related to problems and strategies in comics translation, 37% were written in Spanish, 25% in Portuguese, 21.9% in English, and 15.6% in French. Therefore, the most recurrent problems were space restriction 34.4%, On omatopoeia translation 25%, and cultural aspects 21.8%. In the same line, the most common strategies were adaptation 43.8%, omission 34.4%, and equivalence 21.9%.
