Abstract

The film will be analyzed below “The Prince of Tides,” directed by Barbra Streisand, who also acts in it with actor Nick Nolte and Melinda Dillon, and filmed in 1991. Explains the story of a writer, Savannah Wingo, who suffers from serious psychological problems after returning to attempt suicide is admitted to a hospital to save his life. His psychotherapist, Susan Lowenstein, decides to request family support and knowing Tom, brother of Savana. Tom is a country boy, lover of football and simple life who does not understand much about psychology but when he meets the psychotherapist, a series of memories and feelings begin to appear in his own past, a past that is linked to his sister and the origin of his psychopathology. Tom, I do not know, but to help her sister start their own encounter with himself and his demons.
This film was nominated for the Academy Awards that year. We recommend getting it and appreciate it. We believe that a movie, like a book, a song or a play may well undergo psychological analysis of his characters, content, frames and is a valuable exercise especially in the field of psychotherapy, clinical psychology as well as Psychology teaching in fields where we come from.
